The Art of Storytelling in Comics: You Don't Draw, You Narrate
Powered by Vakalo Art & Design College
Comics are, above all, storytelling through images, and as in any narrative, the flow and the way the meaning is conveyed play a decisive role in the reader's experience. Beyond good design or innate talent, what really brings this form of storytelling to life is the proper use of tools such as: knowledge of basic rules of visual communication, staging, panel layout, composition, elaborate management of perspective design, and knowledge of human anatomy as a starting point for character design. Through the preparation of thumbnails, the creator organizes not just images, but scenes with rhythm, direction, and emotional power. Comics are an art that is designed, but above all, conceived and narrated.
